Motional's online training sessions are live and delivered by one of the team. They are informal and interactive... you can ask questions as we go!
Each session covers the topics listed below, though there is naturally a slight overlap, and they will respond on the day to the needs of the attendees.
Getting Set Up
(30mins)
Includes:
- The who, why, what and when of Motional!
- What does Motional do?
- The Motional Website
- Login
- Navigating Motional and key features
- The Support Centre and getting help
- Terminology - understanding the key terms in Motional (and finding the Glossary!)
- Your Team - adding Users
- Your young people - adding Participants and Groups
Getting Started with Motional
(45 mins)
This session covers all of the aspects of Motional that help you understand your young people's emotional wellbeing and mental health, including:
- Snapshots - A how-to guide including why we ask what we do, and using the Always/Never descriptors
- Understanding Domains and Subdomains and the evidence base behind them
- Understanding Snapshot Results
- Programs and how Motional decides what to offer
- Groupshots - a how-to guide
- Groupshot Results - how to display, understand and practically use your results
- The Participants page - choosing what to show, understanding 'need' and 'change'
- The Participant Profile - including change over time
- The Group Profile and how everything is linked
- The Team Dashboard
Motional Intro and Refresher
(60-75 mins)
This session combines both of the sessions above and gives a comprehensive introduction to all of the aspects of Motional that help you understand your young people's emotional wellbeing and mental health.
Interpreting Data and Reporting
(30 mins)
This session recaps:
- Snapshot Results and how to understand them
- Groupshot Results - how to display, understand and practically use your results
- The Participants page - choosing what to show, understanding 'need' and 'change'
- The Participant Profile - including change over time
- The Group Profile
And adds:
- Housekeeping (cleaning and accuracy)
- Exploring the data
- Using the Participants page to understand need and change by cohort
- Using the Reports Builder
Using Motional to Support a Whole School Approach
(60 mins)
A session for Senior Leads (or aspiring Senior Leads!) that considers the evidence behind a Whole School Approach and how to use Motional to:
- Distribute leadership
- Distribute responsibility
- Reduce the burden on the SENDCo/ALNCo
- Understand stakeholder perspectives
- Build your Emotional Wellbeing, School Development Plan
And includes:
- The evidence (and Downloads in Motional)
- Implementation (and the guides in Motional)
- Who does what and when
- Tips on timetabling and routines
- Using the Organisational Snapshot and Action Plan
Using Groupshots
(30mins)
A how-to session focused on the Groupshot process including:
- Snapshots - a how-to guide including why we ask what we do, and using the Always/Never descriptors
- Understanding Domains and Subdomains and the evidence base behind them
- Snapshot results and how to understand the results graph
- Groupshots - a how-to guide
- Groupshot Results - how to display, understand and practically use your results
- Using the Group Program to support your everyday class practice
